There are so many negative comments and reviews surrounding Mannatech yet the company is still surviving.
Founded in 1993 and it has also been listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange, the company has came a long way and has braved through so many lawsuits against them, some of which they have lost.
You can check out one of the lawsuits here.
Though the Company has been indicated as a pyramid scheme several times and some of the distributors are charged for negligence on their practice, could we really classify Mannatech as a scam?
Before we move forward, I would just like to clarify that I am not a part of, or in any way involved with Mannatech.
My aim in this review is to provide you with an unbiased opinion, and all the information you need to know in order for you to make an informed decision.
Now that you know that there are many negative comments and reviews on Mannatech, let us take a look at a video of why Dr Rollins thinks that Mannatech is not a scam:
In my opinion, Mannatech is a legitimate company, and there are marketable value on its products.
Those lawsuits against them are basically challenges to the practices of its distributors, and it should not be seen as a malpractice on the company as a whole.
There are instances where distributors make claims that Mannatech’s products can cure cancer and several illnesses, but those claims were not scientifically proven, and Mannatech was implicated because of its negligence and failure to restrain such act.
Though I feel Mannatech is legitimate, however, I would not recommend anyone to join the company as a distributor due to several reasons which I will share with you below.
What is Mannatech?
Mannatech is a Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) company that distributes supplements, just like Amway, Forever Living, Total Life Changes, Thrive, Usana, and so many more.
Instead of spending money on marketing and advertising of its products, Mannatech leverage on its distributors’ network to sell its products, and reward its distributors based on a MLM compensation plan.
Lets take a look at how the Mannatech’s compensation works:
Let me first say that the compensation plan is enticing, and it seems that you can make a lot of money with Mannatech, but the truth is, 95% of the people who join Mannatech failed in the business in the first year. I will go more in depth below.
The reason why I feel Mannatech is a legitimate business is because the company is heavily invested on research and development of its products.
The company is also transparent in its researches, findings and case studies, and those information can be found on this page.
So, what exactly is Mannatech focused on?
The main aim of Mannatech is to fight global malnutrition by nourishing the world with Real Food Technology supplementation.
With this, they have discovered and patented Ambrotose where most of Mannatech’s products are based upon.
Ambrotose is basically sugar pills and powders made from glyconutrients which is said to help body cells communicate better with one another.
Mannatech’s products are just supplements, and they are not medicine that can cure cancer or other illnesses that some distributors claim.
Why I think you shouldn’t join Mannatech?
Well, as I have mentioned, 95% of the people who joined Mannatech as a distributor fails in their first year.
There are several reasons behind this which you should be aware of before you join the company.
Promoting Mannatech the Conventional way
One thing that you will be asked to do when you join Mannatech is to write down a list of people you think may be interested in trying the products or interested in joining the Mannatech business opportunity.
Once the list is done, your next task is to give each and everyone in the list a call to fix an appointment with them.
In the first few appointments, you may need to bring your sponsor (the person who introduced you to the opportunity) along, to see how he/she promote the Mannatech products/opportunity.
After several appointments, you may need to run the show on your own, and that is when your sales and communication skills will be tested.
The problem with this structure is that your list of people is only restricted to the people whom you know.
From my experience with MLM opportunities, the statistic of people who will join you in the Mannatech business opportunity is 1 out of 100, and the people who actually buy the products from you is 10 out of 100.
What happens after you have expanded your list? Do you canvass on the street? Buy leads from phone companies to do cold calling?
This is one of the biggest problem Mannatech distributors face.
A business opportunity where you do not need to worry about lack of leads or traffic
Joining the wrong team
As you know, many of the distributors in Mannatech was implicated in several lawsuits, and it is due to the malpractice in their way of selling.
When you join a team who teaches you the wrong things, you will inherently act in the same manner as you were taught, thinking that what you are doing is correct.
One example is when your leaders in the team tells you that Mannatech’s products can cure cancer (without any scientific prove), you will most likely head out to tell the rest of the world what Mannatech’s products can do.
In fact, by just simply making such simple statement, you are actually offending the law. This will cause serious problems in your business.
Also, when you join a team that puts their interest ahead of yours, you will most likely fail in the business.
This happen to many new Mannatech’s distributors.
When you are new to the business, you would need a lot of hand holding and support, and I know that most of the teams do not provide that support.
Most team leaders only focus on bringing new distributors into the business, but neglects to train and groom them because it is time consuming, and the rate of drop out is very high that they risk wasting their time.
So, if you are deciding on whether to join Mannatech, you have to ensure that your team leaders are those who cares about your success, and are there to train and groom you.
Not ready to be a Salesperson
Many new distributors join the business not know that they need to sell.
I know many people who dislike being a salesperson, and join the business thinking that someone else will sell the product for them.
The fact is if you are in the business and you want to be successful, you must sell.
Being a salesperson is not easy, you have face a ton of rejections, and you may lose many friends and family members along the way.
If you are not ready for that, I suggest you drop the idea of joining Mannatech.
Too expensive
To join Mannatech as a distributor, you have 3 options (on top of the basic Membership Fee of $48):
- Basic Pack – $99 to $169
- All-Star Pack – $499
- Premium All-Star Pack – $999
To be honest, the cost of joining the Mannatech opportunity is rather steep, and the chances of you being successful in the business is low.

My Sincere Advice to You
To be successful in the Mannatech business, you have to brave through a lot of obstacles, and if you are ready for that, that’s great, and I wish you luck on your business.
Because there are so many legal implications against this company, I personally believe that you may have a hard time convincing people to join the business.

I have been blessed enough to be a part of Mannatech for the past three months, and boy oh boy has it been amazing! Hard work? Yes. Worth it? Definitely! I was very skeptical in the beginning until my own clients’ testimonies started rolling in. I never knew that I enjoyed helping people this much – and I will stay purely because of that!
Hi Charlotte,
Thank you for sharing your personal experience with Mannatech!
Cheers!

HI. I am an Optometrist and see a lot of sick people in my practice. I didn’t do the business part of Mannatech, only used the products, until it saved my dads life after he had total kidney failure and 3 weeks after using ambrotose the dr’s couldn’t explained why his kidneys were functioning a 100%.
So, I am not in it for the millions, but I do help people that is sick. mannatceh might have lawsuits against them because they claimed that ambrotose can cure cancer. the matter of the fact is, that you can only claim that something cures if it is a drug with a side effect, and that is exactly what mannatech is NOT! It is a food supplement, and it really work. I’ve been to several conferences of Mannatech and they really educate the people toe NOT CLAIM THAT IT CAN CURE ANY DISEASE. So just because they made a mistake in the past, doesn’t mean they are still making the same mistakes. You only need R600 that is about $40 to start your business. Things have changed a lot in the structure and they are improving the whole time. You’re article is helpful, but also outdated. If you as a potential business builder fail, then everybody fails. So they really spent time and effort on everyone to make a success. Please update your article with the latest info and changes in Mannatech. It is a GREAT company with GREAT opportunities. And the are based on NETWORK MARKETONG!
Full disclosure: Yes, I am a Mannatech Associate. Having said that I do ask you to update your information. For example:
1. Associates (Business Builders) & Customers pay the same price for products
2. Entry fee for Associates is $49.99. That is all. And that is an annual fee.
Oh, and the company has a new logo and the labels on all the products have changed accordingly.
Just a FYI
Hi Peggy,
Thank you for your info! I will update this review accordingly.
Cheers!
