What is UserTesting?
UserTesting is a usability testing website (www.usertesting.com). It claims to help companies find qualified people to test their products before it gets launched on the open market.
And, it is also a platform for anyone to earn money while testing these products. I’ll explain more below…

UserTesting.com Inc. was co-founded by Darrell Benatar and Dave Garr in 2007.
Its headquarter is based in 2072 Bayshore Parkway, Suite 703, Mountain View, CA 94043.
How Does UserTesting Work?
It is a platform that helps businesses find qualified testers for their products before it gets launched.
Let us put it this way. Assuming my company wants to know if our newly developed product is user friendly enough.
Now, before putting our product on the open market, we want real insights and feedback from the public, and who do we go to? Platforms like UserTesting!
These insights and feedback from the users of UserTesting will help us improve the quality of our product, before it hits the market.
The Role of UserTesting
Because UserTesting allows just about anyone to earn some extra cash.
It is no wonder, they have a huge group of Testers ready to help the companies.
Once you become a member of UserTesting, you will receive a notification about a survey opportunity.
And right after that, you will be tasked to do a video recording (or go live with the product owners) as you review the product.
And, you have to articulate your thoughts clearly.
During this time, your assessor will rate your performance.
This is something that I don’t really like, and I will explain to you why below.
Once the gig is done, you’ll be paid after 7 days. It is a win win situation, the company and you will both benefited.
You’ll get paid, and the company get valuable insights and feedback to improve their product.
How to Get Started with UserTesting?
Becoming a member of UserTesting is absolutely free.
Once signed up, you need to download a screen recorder from their website.
UserTesting will use this to record your sessions and upload it to their servers.

You have to do a test video for them that takes approximately 5 minutes to complete.
The key is to capture your screen and your voice so that UserTesting knows you are all set and ready.
If you pass the test, they’ll send you an email confirming your successful registration.
After that, you can now start to take the tests offered on your dashboard.
What I Like About UserTesting?
#1 It is free to join
As I’ve said, it’s totally free. All you need to do is register, pass the test, and you can start with the offers.
It is a good avenue for people who are in need of cash, but I won’t bang my hopes on this because there is a chance you won’t get lots of survey opportunities. I’ll explain below.
#2 They won’t waste a lot of your time before you get screened out
Some other survey websites will make you spend 10 minutes answering questions only to realize you don’t qualify to do a certain survey.
Your time is precious, and you wouldn’t want to waste your time on a qualification that will lead you in earning nothing in the end.
I personally like UserTesting in terms of this one, it would only take less than a minute to know whether you are qualified to take a test, or not.

#3 You could possibly earn $10 in 20 minutes
UserTesting promises that you will earn a standard $10 for a test that could take up to 20 minutes. I made a thorough research about this, and I found that it is true.
A 20 minutes worth of work will give you $10.There are seldom offers wherein you will only take 6-10 minutes to test a product, and you can get a payment not lesser than $3 for this short test. On rare occasions, there are test offers that could take more than 20 minutes for you to complete, and this could give you more than $10.
However, again, these exciting offers are hard to come by…
#4 The payment is always on time
UserTesting claims to deliver your payment 7 days after you have taken the test. A lot of my findings connect together and prove that the payment is always on time. But sometimes, there are rare occasions that testers are complaining about the late payment, but the users will normally get paid a few days after the complain.UserTesting abides by their promised delivery time, which is something that I respect. It is a vital point to build-up trust, especially in the online world.
#5 It is unlike other unworthy survey sites
Honestly, there are many unworthy survey sites like MyPoints Survey and Paid Surveys at Home.
Unlike those survey sites, UserTesting do not waste a lot of your time before you get “screened out”, and they don’t ask you for money, like some sites do.
Remember, there is a lot of scams online, some are even making themselves look legit.
So if a system or website is asking you for a fee before you can start earning from them, take a side step and be wise.
What I Don’t Like About UserTesting?
Don’t dive right in just yet!
Here are several things to consider before joining UserTesting…
#1 Qualified surveys are for people with good ratings
The tests can be found on your dashboard.
You might not be aware of this, but the tests offered on your dashboard are the only tests that you might be qualified to join.
<img alt=”UserTesting Dashboard” width=’720′ height=’399′ title=”Image 5 (Edited)” data-id=’10463′ src=’//barenakedscam.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Image-5-Edited.jpg’ style=”width: 100%;”>
Here’s a basic mechanics about your ratings.
Clients will rate you on every test you do.
Your rating is based on the work you put in, and your bad ratings can affect the number of opportunities coming to you.
<img alt=”UserTesting Dashoard” width=’714′ height=’300′ title=”Image 6″ data-id=’10464′ src=’//barenakedscam.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Image-6.jpg’ style=”width: 100%;”>
I’ll be honest, you might only get a few invites as it seems that the first thing they look at is your rating.
In the worst case scenario, if your rating isn’t good, there is a chance that you will not get an offer at all.
#2 Qualified surveys are hard to come by
When the UserTesting is newly established, a lot of testers are earning a decent part-time income.
Did you know why?
There are enough opportunities for everyone.
Crowded Testers
As I am doing my research through UserTesting…
I found out that they let in more testers than they can assign tests to.
There is an overcrowd of testers in the platform.
So, you need to be constantly online to snag up the latest available tests.
Limited in Demographic Choice
Aside from that, I also found out that some clients can choose the demographics of qualified testers.
Let me give you an example. If a client personally wants Canadians to test their product, non-Canadian testers will be left out.
So basically, the time that you spend on the platform is not a guarantee that you can earn a decent income.
The offers may be limited by your demographic location.
#3 Some people might be intimidated about the requirements
Even though it’s free to join, there are some requirements that you need to have.
General
Must be above 18 years old
Fluent in English
You must be able to articulate what you are thinking as you browse
Paypal Account
Equipment
A computer (MAC or Windows 7 and above)
Fast and reliable internet
A PC microphone
Tablet or Smartphone (for mobile tests)
Webcam
These requirements could be intimidating for others, and because, they will not continue to join. Some people would find these requirements normal, but let us consider the following situations.
Must be above 18 years old
Some young students need to earn money for an additional income for their study. Therefore, you will not have a chance to join UserTesting if you are not yet above 18 years old.
I personally believe that making money online doesn’t limit you based no your age as long as you have the right mindset to start.
Fluent in English
Another one is the fluency in English. Let us admit it, there are people who have a deep thinking ability, but not that competent speaking in English. As a result, if you are not fluent in English, then you’ll just be screened out.
You must be able to articulate what think
Let us assume that you are fluent in English, but what if you prefer writing rather than speaking? Being a tester requires you to be a good speaker, you’ll be screened out if you do not speak well.
This is why Affiliate marketing stands out over paid survey sites. It doesn’t matter if you don’t prefer speaking, as you are still able to earn as long as you put enough hard work.
PayPal Account
UserTesting offers PayPal as the only mode of payment. We all know that PayPal is available in almost all countries, but what if it isn’t yet available in your country?
Equipment Requirements
Some don’t have all of these, and this is what other people don’t like. What if your internet connection isn’t fast enough to quickly upload your screen and audio records? You might have some issue this happens. If you fail to have these requirements, and you still wish to continue, you might be screened out right away in the paid sample test.
Is UserTesting a Scam?
Well, UserTesting pays its members on time, and their source of income comes from legitimate companies.
And, if you have a good rating and you are always active on the platform, there is a high chance that you’ll earn some money.
So, I would say that UserTesting is not a scam.
However, because of the increasing competition, and there are not enough surveys to go around, you might want to reconsider spending lots of time on the platform.
And, if you are someone who is trying to find means to earn a good source of income online, UserTesting is probably not a good avenue. I would highly recommend that you check out this program.
My Sincere Advice to You
As I have mentioned above, UserTesting offers you an opportunity to turn your opinion into a cash. But it can be time consuming, and there is no guarantee that you can always earn a decent income. It might even waste your time as you might not ever get an offer. If you are looking for a steady source of income, here’s what I want to share with you…
This happened to me a few years ago…
I was looking for ways to earn extra cash, but I landed myself in a lot of online scams.
I’ve tried online surveys, mystery shopping, MLMs, Online trading, etc.
All of which didn’t earn me a single cent, but burned a huge hole in my pocket.
That’s when I found this program that eventually got me to fire my boss and work full-time online.
I wish to tell you that earning a full-time income online is easy, but it isn’t. You can read about my story here.

Maybe it used to be really good a few years ago but now with the paypal only payment method it’s not reliable at all. Opened my account, make the training passed the test all set go made 5 test and when money started showing up in my paypal account paypal decided I was doing suspicious activities, ask me for many proofs: ID address account balance and activities proof. Sent everything and without even an email they permanently locked my account and took all the money I made. Also paypal has an arbitrary clause where they can keep 2500 usd for the trouble of monitoring you so I don’t even hope to see that money again. You can check this issue with PayPal in a simple Google search, trustpilot opinions, and even their own community board, it’s simply not reliable anymore and since is the only payment method for Usertesting then they are not reliable either
