Is Vector Marketing a Scam? No, in my opinion, but…
There are many people claiming that Vector Marketing is a scam because of their unscrupulous marketing techniques.
Vector Marketing especially targets high school and college students who are looking for a part-time job.
They tout that no previous experience or special training is needed.
<img alt=”Vector Marketing Scam – Cutting through all the B.S. Gimmick” width=’1200′ height=’630′ title=”Vector Marketing Scam – Cutting through all the B.S. Gimmick” data-id=’9708′ src=’//barenakedscam.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Vector-Marketing-Scam.png’ style=”width: 100%;”>
And, they advertise themselves as a job opportunity, when in fact they are a business opportunity.
This means that the $17 an hour “job” turns out to be a potential earning, and not real earnings.
They lure “naive” students in the premise that it is a “job interview”.
And honestly, who would turn down a $17 per hour job opportunity, especially when you are a student, right?
It is definitely a fine job, if it is for real.
Their bait and switch marketing technique is the main reason why so many people swear that Vector Marketing is a scam…
My #1 Recommended Business Opportunity for Students who HATES studying 🙂
But, let’s be objective…
Cutting through the B.S. marketing technique, could there be a real business opportunity for students or even adults?
Could a 18 year old student really earn $17 or more per hour, that’s the big question we will be discussing in this Vector Marketing review.
How Does Vector Marketing Works?
The core idea behind Vector Marketing is that you will become a salesperson or a distributor selling Cutco brand kitchenware.
The emphasis will be on selling knives.
These knife sets will run anywhere from around $275 to over $1,000 per set.
So, if you are intending to join Vector Marketing, do note that you will be getting into a sales position.
Does it cost money to join Vector Marketing?
In the past, new distributors were “made” to buy a set of knives to get started.
Which means that, on top of bait and switch marketing technique, new joiners are required to pay at least $275 for a chance to earn more money selling the knives.
This is definitely not what people expect in a job interview, and that’s why the company was given such a bad reputation.
In fact, the past business practice could land the company into big trouble with the authorities.
Vector Marketing would have been considered as a pyramid scheme.
If you are unfamiliar with pyramid schemes, this video explains it really well…
However, Vector Marketing has clean up its act.
The company no longer requires this initial investment…
When you first sign up with Vector, you will be required to take a two or three day series of training classes.
Though you won’t be paid for these classes, you will acquire knowledge about the ins and outs of the company and its products.
And, once you’ve completed the classes, you will receive a set of demonstration knives on loan, as long as you stay as an active distributor.
Is it really easy to sell Cutco Knives?
<img alt=”Is it easy to sell Cutco Knives” width=’1200′ height=’490′ title=”Is it easy to sell Cutco Knives” data-id=’9709′ src=’//barenakedscam.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Is-it-easy-to-sell-Cutco-Knives.png’ style=”width: 100%;”>
The real struggle begins when you are a full-fledged distributor…
After you have completed the mandatory training program, you are on your own…
You won’t be given any leads or prospects!
When you are left to your own devices, who will you go after?
It only makes sense to sell knives to your grandmother, your mum, your sister, and whoever you know is a home maker, right?
But, the BIG question here is, “Does your family really NEED a new set of knives?”
I would say that this is a luxury item, more than a need. Every household would probably have a set of knives they are comfortable using.
Your best chance of selling the knives is when your siblings or family members are in the process of moving into a new home.
Other than that, you could picture yourself setting up house parties, or going door to door for a demonstration (assuming they allow you to do so).
In my opinion, trying to sell a luxury item is going to be an uphill battle.

How much can you earn?
Here’s the Vector Marketing commission levels…
Sales Revenue in a Month | Commission Rate |
---|---|
$0 – $1,000 | 10% |
$1,000 – $3,000 | 15% |
$3,000 – $6,000 | 20% |
$6,000 – $10,000 | 25% |
$10,000 and above | 30% |
On top of that, if you top out at the high end of the scale, you are eligible for additional bonuses.
Now, here’s something interesting…
You don’t really need to sell a set of knives in order to earn money.
They pay you around $12 per qualified appointment. Now, this sounds great, but…
Here’s the real numbers…
Let’s say that you need to drive for an hour to an appointment, and the demonstration takes another hour, then you head back home for another hour.
That’s approximately 3 hours (this is understated – the demonstration takes more than an hour).
$12 for 3 hours of work? That would come to $4 per hour.
But wait, you won’t get travelling allowance!
Now, let’s factor in the cost of the 2 hours drive.
For an average car, you spend about $7 per hour for gas.
Now, you earn $12, but the gas would cost you $14. All-in-all, you actually lost $2.
Obviously, this is just an example, you might not need to travel 2 hours for an appointment.
But, this is based on true experience.
In my opinion, if you are getting into this business opportunity, do not bang your hopes on getting paid for the appointment.
Aim for selling the knives, that’s how the money is made.
Limitations of this Business Opportunity
You’re NOT going to have many repeat customers.
In fact, Vector offers a lifetime guarantee for their knives. This means that once you’ve made a sale, that’s it! Your customer won’t come back for more.

To be successful in this business opportunity, you need a steady stream of leads.
And, you need to consistently sell knives to new prospects.
You could probably earn $4,000 this month selling dozens of knife sets, but you could also earn $0 next month if you fail to make any sales.
It is a constant battle for survival because there isn’t any residual income.
Success with this company is purely based on the constant efforts made towards selling.
Here’s how You can Build a Passive Income Doing Things You Love!
Vector Marketing Cutco Products
Let’s talk a little bit about the product you’ll be selling for Vector – their knives.
Selling knives isn’t an easy business. No matter how they sugar coat it.
Cutco knives are decent knives. But they’re far from the very best knives on the market.
There are many good knife sets out there, and Vector’s prices are comparable at best.
If you’re a good salesperson, you can make sales. But the product doesn’t just magically sell itself.
As far as the knives go, there are a few drawbacks. One is that the knives tend to need sharpening frequently.
Vector advertises free sharpening for its customers. But this is slightly misleading.
While the sharpening is free, customers must pay the shipping costs. This comes to $7 or more.
This is yet another marketing gimmick…
Common Reasons Why People Fail with Vector Marketing
The sad truth is that the majority of the people who try this business opportunity will fail. If you’ve read this far and still think Vector might be for you, take note.
The following four reasons are the most common areas where people trip up with the Vector Marketing business opportunity.
1. Lack of a Steady Supply of Leads
As I’ve briefly mentioned above, finding highly targeted leads to sell the Cutco knives is one of the biggest challenges for distributors.
The initial training program teaches you about the products and gives you some sales tactics. But, once you’ve finished the training, the burden falls on you to find the leads.
You may think that selling the products to your friends and family members can make you successful, but that’s just not true.
For almost all people, your immediate social network will dry up quickly. You can’t sustain your business purely with your social network.
Just in case you are already a Vector Marketing distributor, and you are struggling to find leads, here is some help for you.
2. Lack of Support and Training
<img alt=”Does Vector Marketing Provide good training and support?” width=’1200′ height=’630′ title=”Does Vector Marketing Provide good training and support?” data-id=’9282′ src=’//barenakedscam.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/How-to-Choose-a-Good-MLM-Company-Good-Training-and-Support.png’ style=”width: 100%;”>
Being successful in a sales position is a constant evolving process.
The set of sales skills you are given isn’t going to be enough to make you successful.
You need to constantly practice on your sales pitch, and to learn how to handle rejections.
And, you need to constantly be mentored and coached by people who are already successful…
In order for you to move through this tough and unforgiving journey.
Unfortunately, after your initial training with Vector, the burden falls on you to figure out how to make this opportunity a success.
Yes, there is supplemental training, but the trainers aren’t necessarily knowledgeable about your situation.
Every distributor will have different experiences when they are out there selling.
In my opinion, to have a real chance of success, a distributor will need a proper regimen of training and coaching.
3. Uncomfortable being in the Sales Environment
Sales can be one of the most lucrative fields in all of business. But it’s also one of the toughest.
Most people aren’t born as natural salespeople. For those lucky few, opportunities like these can be easy.
<img alt=”Are you comfortable in the sales environment” width=’1200′ height=’630′ title=”Are you comfortable in the sales environment” data-id=’9712′ src=’//barenakedscam.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Are-you-comfortable-in-the-sales-environment.png’ style=”width: 100%;”>
But, for most of us, sales is something we have to work at. It’s just like mastering any skill.
You can improve your ability as a salesperson, as long as you have certain attributes…
A willingness to get out of your comfort zone, even if it means risking failure.
- The ability to communicate effectively with others
- Aptitude for becoming an expert on the product you are selling
- Believing in your products and the desire to share that belief with othersIf you possess those traits, sales is right up your alley.
These traits can be learned if you have the willingness to work at it. But, it isn’t for everyone.
By now, you probably have a pretty good idea whether Vector is right for you. If you don’t think it is, take a look at this program for a good alternative.
4. Having the Wrong Mindset
Any sales-based business where you’re your own boss requires a certain mindset.
You are responsible for your own success or failure. And, there are going to be tough times.
You must have the determination to keep grinding even when you hit a run of unproductive appointments.
Like with most things in life, an opportunity like Vector requires a heap of hard work and sacrifice.
If you’ve got the mindset to battle through the bad days and keep working, you’ve got a leg up on most.
That willpower is the final ingredient that will determine either success or failure.

My Sincere Advice to You
If you are a student and you are looking for a way to earn extra cash, Vector Marketing could provide you with the avenue…
Cutting through all the B.S. marketing techniques to lure you into the business opportunity…
The company does have a reasonable path for you to earn money.
However, you must take note of the pitfalls I’ve mentioned above.
You can definitely learn a lot of life lessons while you journey through this business opportunity.
But, in my opinion, this is not something that you can do for a long time, and obviously, it is not suitable for everyone.
Vector Marketing is not a sustainable business. You could earn $4,000 this month selling a dozen of Knife sets, but you could also earn $0 if you make no sales the next month.
It is a constant battle for survival, and if you don’t have the mindset to keep up with this unforgiving path, then this is not something that you should start.
If Vector Marketing is not for you, then what is?
Now, I am someone who always believes in earning money while you sleep (passive income).
Because, this is the only way for you to live a life of freedom.
And, not to struggle to make ends meet.
You see, I was one who’ve worked years in an unrewarding corporate job (8 years to be exact).
And, due to corporate restructuring, I was thrown into a mundane job that have lots of processes and bosses to go through. The kind of job that I swear not to have when I was still in college.
Every day, for a few years, I was dragging my feet to work, and my health deteriorates as a result of the unhealthy relationship between co-workers.
Luckily, I was building an online business on the side, and I could leave my job anytime I want.
And, in August 2017, I finally fired my boss after a heated argument. You can read about my story here.
Think about your future…
So, what I implore you do, is to think about your future seriously.
Are you going to work a job that you will eventually grow to hate, or will you create a safety net for yourself and earn money while doing the things that you are passionate about.
If you want to learn how to build a passive income while doing the things you are passionate about, I would highly suggest that you check out this program, where I give personal coaching as well.
