Over the years, I’ve come across many people who have failed in their online businesses, but the reasons behind their failure astonishes me. These people are smart and hard-working people yet they couldn’t find their path to online success. Why?
There are many reasons that would make a person fail but I believe the main culprit is the person’s MINDSET.
I, for one, have gone through this journey to find my own success and I know exactly what is going on in one’s mind while searching for success. We as humans expect many things in life to go in our favour but this harsh world does not reciprocate.
Bear with me till the end of this page because I am going to share with you a video that helped me get through many difficult hurdles in my life.
I remember when I first step into the online world searching for opportunities thinking that someone will provide me with the answer. True enough there are tonnes of people providing answers but I soon found out (the hard way) that most of these answers lead to a scam.

What I am going to talk about is the common pitfalls that would cause a person to fail, and I will also show you the way to succeed online.
Pitfall #1: Nothing comes for FREE in this World
I understand the main reason you are trying to find a business opportunity online is because you do not have enough money to start with, but the fact is NOTHING COMES FOR FREE. You have to understand that. I come across many people who expects FREE stuff online but in the end it lead them to nowhere.
When an opportunity knocks on your door and claims that it is FREE, there are only 2 possibilities, either the opportunity is a scam and would require you to make a huge investment in the end, or it is a legitimate business that is offering a free trail to their program but you still have to make a small investment.
You have to set your mindset right in order to be successful. So if you are still searching for an opportunity that do not require you to make an investment, forget it! You will never find one.
Pitfall #2: I need a Guaranteed Success
Nothing is certain in life and it goes the same for business. In a brick and mortar business, 90% of them failed in their first year, in a Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) business, 95% of the people who are involved failed in their first year, and in the online business industry, a high percentage of the people fail as well. That is why only 1% of the population holds 99% of the global wealth. I am not saying this to discourage you from starting a business online, but I am just trying to tell you that no business opportunities are certain of success.
I know you may expect to have a guaranteed success when you join a business opportunity but one thing for sure is that if someone can guarantee your success, they are out to cheat your money. Believe it or not, I leave it up to you.
I’ve made many mistakes in the past and joined many types of business opportunities. I have failed in almost all of them and I dare to admit it. Yet, I found my success through Affiliate Marketing. So you see, there are no guarantees of success, but each time that you fail provides a stepping stone to your success. If you persist long and hard enough, you will find success eventually.
Success is given to people who keeps on trying even if they have failed a thousand times.
Pitfall #3: Can Laziness bring you success?
You see, many people expect success, but they are not willing to put in the effort to make things work. If you don’t look after your own interest, who will? Success doesn’t come easy, if it does, everyone would have been successful.
I can care less about those people who are just pure lazy and do not want to help themselves, but I know there is a group of people who are just afraid that their time and effort put into the business will be a waste if it happens to fail. I’ve shared with you my little story about my journey to success and I hope that you will not be afraid of trying.
As Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of the Japanese martial art of aikido, once said “Failure is the key to success; Each failure teaches us something”. Take the story of Colonel Sanders who founded KFC, he had failed 1,009 times before succeeding at the age of 65. While I am not suggesting to take a long time to find success, but I am saying that as long as you do not give up, your persistence is your guarantee to your success. Laziness will bring you no where.
Pitfall #4: Fear of Failing brings you nowhere
If you ask any successful people if they have ever failed before, I am certain they will tell you that they have failed many times. Imagine if Colonel Sanders gave up at the 1,008th try, he would never have founded KFC, if Henry Ford gave up after he was broke, you would never see a Ford cars running on the streets, if Walt Disney gave up after his bankruptcy, the amazing Disney group would never have been what it is today. Never fear to fail, never stop trying.
Pitfall #5: Patience is Virtue
Many people tried starting an online business but quit after a few months when they did not achieve their expected results. I’ve gone through that phase before, and I know at times you may feel that it is not worth carrying on. Let me share with you my story and maybe you can relate to this.
When I first started my online business, I spend all my free time working on my website. As I have a full-time job, my time is limited. I have a girlfriend at that time (who is now my wife – luckily she is understanding), and I have to attend to my part-time university course. The only time that I am left with is the early weekday mornings before my work and during weekends.
Every morning I woke up at 5.30am and worked on my website till 7.30am, and on weekends, I woke up at 7am and work through to 12pm and sometimes 3pm.
I’ve work really hard on my website for months but I did not see any results. No traffic, no conversion, no sales, nothing at all for 4 months. I was down in the dumps, and I had days where I felt that giving up was the only option. Luckily, there was a day when I seek help from an online community and I asked for opinions and advices. I was enlightened that many successful online business owners had the same experience as I, and what they did to achieve that level of success amazed me.
I knew at that point of time that I have to keep going no matter what it takes, and however long it takes. Amazingly, on my 5th month, I got my first commission. I was full of the joys of spring though it was just a few dollars of commission, but I knew my online business model is finally working!
You see, if I would have given up and didn’t have the patience to amend my ways, I would never achieve success. I hope you will keep my story in mind and remember that no matter how hard life is, you will keep on going because you never know what is installed for you at the end zone. You just have to keep on finding it.
